Decolonising the skin is born from the need to question how history, standard medicine (neoliberal), state social policies (bio-power) ecclesiastical companies and the church have configured the pseudo-representation of the body. Bodies alienated, damaged, medicalized, disciplined, judged, classified, pathologized and murdered.
It refers to the will to strip the body of the patriarchal hegemonic narratives of control of life that have constructed human beings from the outside: the inquisition, capitalism, colonialism and imperialism.
Romina Rivero, as a visual artist and doctor, assumes her responsibility to study and contemplate the pain and imbalance (illness) that that live in the human being as part of the vital experience. She believes in free bodies, who carry wounds and scars, resistant and vital. Help heal, dignify and beautify pain.
Decolonising the Skin focuses on the medicinal power of plants and minerals, ancient pharmacopoeias, precious biological principles and healing actives. In her pieces, the fusion of medicinal botany and historical periods that need to be healed is recognized. He attempted, for with, the essence of humanity.
